Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 September 2026.

Classmate is a personal student project. It is not operated by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Hills Road Sixth Form College.

What we store

We store your username, nickname, password hash, recovery-code hash, optional bio and profile picture, timetable entries, visibility choice, friend connections, blocks, reports, messages, shared files, notification subscriptions, and short-lived failed-login counters. We never store your password or recovery code in readable form.

Who can see it

Anyone can open the website, but account data requires a Classmate login. Accepted friends can see your nickname, unique @username, profile, and lesson timetable. Your Free, Study, and Home presence is private unless you switch on presence sharing; when enabled, accepted friends can see it and may receive a relevant nudge. Messages and shared files are limited to the two participants. The administrator can review reports and, where needed for safety, recent messages.

Your choices

You can turn presence sharing off, block people, report concerns, change your profile, or delete your account in Settings. Account deletion removes your profile, timetable, connections, sessions, notification subscriptions, messages involving you, and uploaded files referenced by those messages. If you cannot sign in, contact the project administrator @sam through your usual school contact.
